Due for release late fall 2012, this 336-page hardcover book includes almost a thousand images--film captures and contemporary shots of the Stooges filming locations all around Southern California. There are also a lot of rare publicity photos and vintage location shots.
This is another incredible film history book from Santa Monica Press--they published the best-selling MGM: Hollywood's Greatest Backlot, and the John Bengtson trilogy of silent film location books (Silent Echoes: Discovering Early Hollywood through the Films of Buster Keaton; Silent Traces:Discovering Early Hollywood Through the Films of Charlie Chaplin; Silent Visions: Discovering Early Hollywood and New York Through the Films of Harold Lloyd).
If you are a fan of animation history as well, Santa Monica Press is also publishing a book about the McKimson Brothers--early animators who worked for everyone and developed the character Foghorn Leghorn. It's called “I Say, I Say...Son!” and it features hundreds of sketches, studies, and cels.
