A few recent-ish book projects. (The Book Cover Gallery is fairly updated FYI.)
• The Autograph Book of L.A.: book project based on the exhibit at LA Central Library, based on LAPL's Autograph Collection. Author Josh Kun connects Charles Lummis's idea of collecting signatures of “those who count” to contemporary graffiti writing (including sidewalk writing--we created a super awesome floor covering of sidewalk writing for the exhibit) (Angel City Press)
• Clubhouse Turn, The Twilight of Hollywood Park Race Track: Beautiful photos of the people and locations of Hollywood Park by Michele Asselin, taken in the weeks before the track was torn down. (Angel City Press)
• JUDSON, Innovation in Stained Glass: A history of the Judson Studios and the family that continues to work in glass and is expanding the ancient art in contemporary ways (check out the work they are doing with fine artists), by David Judson and Steffi Nelson. (Angel City Press)
• Read Me, Los Angeles: A fabulous compendium of literature and literary activity in L.A., from noir to contemporary. Includes resources, many lists, essays, locations, and a lot a lot more. By Katie Orphan. (Prospect Park Press)
• Stitched and Sewn, The Life-Saving Art of Holocaust Survivor Trudie Strobel: Trudie's work kind of has to be seen to be believed... she has been creating stitched art for many years, running the gamut from scenes of memories of her youth to family portraits. By Jody Savin with photos by Ann Elliott Cutting. (Prospect Park Press)
